Dentures and dental implants treatments are the two most common restorations for missing teeth. Whether you are missing all of your teeth, or just several teeth in one area, north Carolinian’s dentures will help improve your ability to chew and speak naturally. In addition, dentures provide support for the lips and cheeks in the areas where teeth are missing, improving your appearance and self-esteem.Complete dentures replace all the teeth, while a partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position. Candidates for complete dentures have lost most or all of their teeth. A partial denture is suitable for those who have some natural teeth remaining. A denture improves chewing ability and speech, and provides support for facial muscles. It will greatly enhance the facial appearance and smile.Complete or full dentures are made when all of your natural teeth are missing. You can have a full denture on your upper or lower jaw, or both.Complete dentures are called “conventional” or “immediate” according to when they are made and when they are inserted into the mouth. Immediate dentures are inserted immediately after the removal of the remaining teeth. To make this possible, the dentist takes measurements and makes the models of the patient`s jaws during a preliminary visit.

Dentures in Kinston, NC

If you are considering dentures in Kinston, NC and Goldsboro, NC, the first step is to complete a consultation. Dr. Carlyle will assess the condition of your teeth, and will discuss your options as a result, which may include teeth restoration, a combination of partial removal and a partial denture (bridge), or full removal of all teeth, complemented with a complete denture set. In addition to partial or complete, there are different types of denture appliances, including overdentures, which cover a tooth or prepared root, and denture implants, which are implanted surgically into the jaw. Factors such as the number of natural teeth remaining and tooth
stability will determine which is most appropriate. Once a decision is made, the denturist will take impressions of your mouth and will begin fabrication of your dentures. Ideally, dentures should be ready to wear before any teeth are extracted, since immediate dentures will help stabilize gum tissue and shape throughout the healing process.

Prcedures of denture Treatments

Dentures are manufactured and adapted to your jaw using different processes. Standard dentures are created by having the patient bite into a wax mold, in order to determine the bite relationship between the upper and lower jaws. They typically fit comfortably and chew well but utilize average tooth colors and shapes. With precision (or equilibrated) dentures, the denturist defines the dimensions and relationship between teeth and the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). Measurements are then transferred into a semi-adjustable articulator, which allows natural jaw movement. These dentures use premium materials and precision techniques in order to create a more personalized product. Since no two mouths are the same, premium personalized dentures will provide a higher degree of comfort, function, and aesthetics than will standard dentures. Precision dentures are usually required for unusual jaw shapes, or when oral tissues have shrunk. Personalized dentures more closely mimic the individual jaw characteristics and natural contours of your facial muscles and your smile.
